DIRECTORS Executive Director –Lynn B. Wirta Assistant Director – Kathy Brockman LEAD TEACHERS Susan Eagle has been the Lead Teacher in the Tree Frog Room since 2005. She has completed STARS certification. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and over 38 years of experience in childcare. Barbara Brittenham is the Middle Kids lead teacher. She earned her 2 year ECE degree and Elementary Ed. Teaching certificate from Central Washington University in 1982. In 2000 she became the Lead Teacher of the Rainforest Room. Before that she taught pre-school, was a Nanny and taught schoolagers. Tom Sullivan has been the Lead Teacher for Under the Sea since 2001. He has over 40 E.C.E credits, STARS certification and over 16 years experience working with children. Laura Chandler has worked at Small Faces since 1988. She is currently the Curriculum Coordinator and the Lead Teacher in the Kangaroo Room. Laura has a degree in Environmental Science, an A.A. in E.C.E., and is a STARS Trainer. Johnny Otto is the Lead Teacher for the Big Kids program (as well as maintaining the sites computers and supporting the administration as Small faces’ Office Manager) and has been since 2004. He has a Masters in Education, and a B.A. in French. He has completed STARS certification. Johnny has over 10 years of relevant experience. Michael Reisman is the Lead Teacher in the Mountain Room. Originally from New Jersey, Michael earned his Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Philosophy from Rutgers University in 1997. Michael is in his 4th year at Small Faces, and has completed a number of early Childhood education courses at North Seattle Community College. Aside from teaching, Michael's passions are music (singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist), football and baseball. He lives in the Crown Hill neighborhood with his wife, Laura, and dog Hoagie. Nancy Wiggins is the Lead Teacher of the Challenge program. She has earned STARS certification. She has a B.A. in History, has been teacher certified, and has worked part-time/full-time/ or as a substitute for Small Faces since 1989. ASSOCIATE TEACHERS Renee Clinton has been the Associate Teacher in the Tree Frog Room since September of 2005. She is currently working on her Early Childhood Education Degree and has 8 years of experience in childcare. She has completed STARS certification. Carly Davis is the Associate Teacher in the Big Kids Program as well as the Kangaroo room. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art. She is STARS certified. Jane Pendras-Verdon is the Associate Teacher in the Mountain Room. She has a B.A. in Psychology and has provider experience in early childhood education. Jane has completed STARS certification. Eileen Pearson is the Associate Teacher in the Rainforest Room and Middle Kids. She has Bachelor’s degrees in both sociology and psychology. Eileen began working at Small faces in the Big Kids Summer program. Michelle Wotherspoon is the Associate Teacher in the Under the Sea Room. She is earning her AAS degree in Early Childhood Education at North Seattle Community College. Michelle Andersen is the Teacher Assistant for the Tree Frogs. Michelle has worked at Small Faces since 1990 and is STARS certified. Elana Stegman is a Teacher Assistant in the Rainforest Room. She has a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and six years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education. Elana has earned STARS certification. Elana has been employed at Small faces since March 2006. Rajinder Pal is a Teacher Assistant in the Challenge/Middle Kids Room. He has been at Small Faces since 2005. He received degrees in Education, Botany and Chemistry as well as a pre-med certificate in India. He also has 23 years experience as a science teacher. He is STARS certified. Nimi Sharma is a Teacher Assistant in the Tree Frogs Room. She has been at Small Faces since 2005. She has a bachelor’s degree in Education and 25 years of teaching experience in India. Nimi has completed STARS certification. Heather Gee is a Teacher Assistant in the Kangaroo Room. She first began working at Small Faces in 1993. Heather has Down Syndrome. She likes to share her story with adults and children so that they will know that people with Down Syndrome have feelings, interests and activities just like other people. Heather has a great imagination and likes to share stories she has written. She enjoys singing as well. Heather has been working with children in different capacities for 14 years. Rosemary Delaney is the Assistant Teacher in the Under the Sea classroom. Rosemary’s certification is in the culinary arts. Kusam Parashar is an Associate Teacher. She earned her Elementary Education degree in India and has over 7 years of relevant experience. Kusam is STARS certified and has been working at Small Faces since 2001.
Fred Bauer is a Small Faces substitute. Fred has a B.S. in Business Administration and is currently attending Western Washington University in pursuit of his Washington State teaching credentials. Penny Eachus joins us this year as our newest substitute teacher. She is a Small Faces parent with a B.A. in liberal studies and experience as a substitute teacher. Derrick Williams is a substitute teacher at Small Faces. He has completed STARS certification. He is a Northwest native and a veteran of the U.S.A.F. Derrick earned his B.A. in Religion and Philosophy. He has been working at Small Faces since 2000. Michael Ramirez is a Small faces substitute. Michael has worked for Small Faces since 1995 and is STARS certified. SUPPORT STAFF Robert Miller is the Lead Custodial/Maintenance person. He has been a custodian here at Small Faces since 2004. He has a B.A. in Health, and has experience in roofing. Tony Nelson is on the Small Faces custodial team. Tony has 11 years of experience in construction, landscaping and janitorial service. Tony has been working at Small faces since Spring of 2008. Sunni Easton is our Cook. Sunni has over 30 years experience in the Culinary Arts field, 10 of which were spent running her own catering business. She is currently working towards a degree in Culinary Arts at Seattle Central Community College. Jimmy Caron is our dishwasher. Jimmy has over 15 years of experience working as support staff in a school setting. |
